Comic-con Touchwall

Lionsgate // ignition interactive // DESIGN + Motion + dev

For Comic-Con 2011, Ignition Interactive created a massive 6-screen “touchwall” to give con-goers and up close an personal experience with the studio’s upcoming releases. Ignition Interactive was responsible for the entire infrastructure of the build, from ideation of the installation, direction of the construction, design and development of the application and interface as well as the social extensions of the experience.

Inside the touchwall housed 7 computers. 6 Individual computers powering each screen/application and a server with a custom built socket application responsible for syncing them all. Every 30 minutes (or on demand) each side of the walls array of 3 screens would show trailers and video content spanning the displays while keeping them in time and frame sync.

This experimental challenge proved to be a large attraction and used by tens of thousands of people as well as being featured in various media outlets including the New York Times and Mashable.
